Wenn eine Bank sogenannte Rentnerkredite anbietet, dann können diese jedoch nicht mit Krediten für Angestellte, oder junge Familien verglichen werden. Immobilienfinanzierungen über einen sehr langen Zeitraum sind somit gar nicht möglich, ausgenommen der Kreditnehmer kann hervorragende Vermögensverhältnisse vorweisen. Wenn es um kleinere Summen bis zu einem Wert von 5000 Euro geht, dann ist das jedoch meist kein Problem. In diesem Fall sind meist auch Laufzeiten bis zu 30 Monaten durchaus möglich. Beachtet werden sollte jedoch, dass jede Bank das Risiko bei Rentnerkrediten anders bewertet.

Bei vielen Banken darf der Kreditnehmer beispielsweise nicht älter als 70 Jahre alt sein und andere Banken ziehen die Grenze sogar schon bei einem Alter von 60 oder 65. Außerdem fordern sie meist eine Tilgung bis zum 70. Lebensjahr.
